The Coconut Tree Prison

Also known as Phu Quoc Prison, the Coconut Tree Prison was originally a French built prison from 1949-1950 that later became known as an infamous torture prison used during the Vietnam War. It is estimated that over 4,000 prisoners were killed at this prison. Over 1,200 human remains have been exhumed in this area, with 800 bodies being discovered as recently as 2010.

Phú Quốc Island is a Vietnamese tropical paradise located off the southern coast of Cambodia in the Gulf of Thailand. Most of the island is seeing a construction boom as roads and resorts are being built in anticipation of the Island becoming a major tourist attraction in the near future.
